Choose a spacious, bright and well-ventilated working environment, and ensure that there are no flammable and explosive items around to reduce safety hazards during operation. Wear appropriate protective equipment, including but not limited to cut-resistant gloves, goggles, dust masks, etc., to protect hands, eyes and respiratory system from dust and debris generated during sanding. Make sure that the manually adjustable sanding block and all its parts (such as rotating handles, back Velcro, sandpaper, etc.) are intact and have no signs of cracks, looseness or damage.
This is the main tool for manually adjusting the camber angle, usually located on the side or top of the sanding block, designed with easy-to-grip textures or shapes so that users can turn it easily and steadily. This design not only provides a visual angle reference, but also allows users to preliminarily estimate and adjust the camber angle by finger touch or visual inspection without removing the sandpaper. Some high-end manually adjustable sanding blocks may be equipped with a dial or marking line to help users set and remember specific camber angle values ​​more accurately.
According to the work requirements, first outline the shape and size of the required camber angle in your mind or on paper so that you have a clear goal in actual operation. Use your non-dominant hand (usually the left hand) to stabilize the sanding block, and hold the rotating handle with your dominant hand (right hand) to prepare for angle adjustment. Gently turn the rotating handle while observing or feeling the changes in the working surface of the sanding block. Note that when trying for the first time, adjustments should be made in small increments and at a slow speed to avoid over-adjustment. If an angle ruler or protractor is equipped, it can be used in due course during the adjustment process to ensure the accuracy of the adjustment. Repeat the above steps as needed until a satisfactory camber angle is achieved. Fine-tuning is key because it ensures that the final sanding effect meets the design requirements.
After the adjustment is completed, gently shake the sanding block to confirm that it has been stably maintained at the desired camber angle without signs of looseness or deviation. If the manually adjustable sanding block is designed with a locking mechanism (such as a knob lock, snap, etc.), it should be operated correctly to fix the adjusted angle to prevent changes due to vibration or accidental touch during use.
Before formal use, conduct one or more test sandings to verify the adjustment effect and familiarize yourself with the new state of the sanding block. During use, continue to pay attention to the working condition and wear of the sanding block, and adjust or replace the sandpaper in time to maintain the best sanding effect. After each use, clean the sanding block and the surrounding environment in time to remove residual dust and debris. Regularly check and lubricate the rotating handle and adjustment mechanism to extend the service life.
